Sean Neveling is a registered educational psychologist practising from Bryanston, Johannesburg. He holds a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand, along with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the same institution.
His decision to enter the field of psychology was driven by something simple but significant: a desire to create a space where people could understand themselves more clearly. Not a space filled with jargon or clinical detachment, but one where honest reflection could take place without fear of judgment. That intention continues to shape his work today.
Sean works across a broad spectrum of therapeutic contexts. He conducts psychoeducational assessments for learners who may need academic accommodations, and he offers play therapy for children between the ages of 4 and 12. He provides therapy for adolescents navigating the often turbulent years between 13 and 19, and he supports adults who are working through challenges such as anxiety, grief, life transitions and relational difficulties. He also facilitates couples counselling and family therapy, both of which require a careful understanding of how relationships function as systems.
What connects all of these areas is a consistent approach. Sean does not position himself as the person with the answers. Instead, he creates a framework where the people he works with can begin to access their own. He listens carefully, asks questions that open up rather than close down, and allows the process to move at the pace that feels right for each individual, couple or family.
Outside of his practice, Sean is drawn to the quieter things. He enjoys music, films, reading and writing. These interests inform the way he sees the world and the way he connects with others. There is a reflective quality to his work that does not come from a textbook. It comes from a genuine curiosity about people and the stories they carry.
If you are looking for a psychologist who will sit with you through the uncomfortable parts without rushing towards a conclusion, Sean’s practice may be the right fit. The process is not always easy, but it is always respectful. And it starts with a single conversation.
The practice is located at Hampton Office Park in Bryanston, Johannesburg, and offers psychoeducational assessments, play therapy, adolescent therapy, couples counselling, family therapy and individual adult therapy. Whether you are taking the first step or continuing a process you have already begun, you are welcome here.
